Alternating Dumbbell Lunge

Equipment
dumbbells
Setup
- Stand tall with a dumbbell in each hand at the sides.
- Feet hip width, chest up, abs braced.
Execution
- 1.Step forward with one leg into a lunge, lowering until the back knee is just above the floor.
- 2.Keep the front shin close to vertical and the torso upright.
- 3.Push through the front foot to return to standing, then lunge with the other leg.
Breathing
Inhale as you descend, exhale as you drive back up.
Form cues
- Step out far enough that the front shin stays vertical.
- Drop the back knee straight down.
- Push through the whole front foot, not just the toes.
Common mistakes
- Taking too short a step so the front knee travels far past the toes.
- Leaning the torso forward over the front leg.
- Letting the front knee cave inward.
