Cable Triceps Pushdown

Equipment

cable machine with a bar or rope

Setup

  • Set the cable at upper-chest height or above and attach a straight bar or rope.
  • Stand close to the machine with the elbows tucked at the ribs.

Execution

  1. 1.Push the attachment down by extending the elbows until the arms are straight.
  2. 2.Squeeze the triceps at the bottom.
  3. 3.Let the attachment rise under control until the forearms are just past parallel.

Breathing

Exhale as you push down, inhale as you return.

Form cues

  • Elbows pinned to the ribs — only the forearms move.
  • Keep the torso upright.
  • Full extension at the bottom of each rep.

Common mistakes

  • Leaning over the bar and pressing with the bodyweight.
  • Letting the elbows drift forward or flare out.
  • Using a partial range at the top.
